"When I was 15 my siblings and I were put into foster care and I was placed, along with my brother, into a foster home and we were separated from our sister. I originally had to come to the club without a say in the matter. At first this wasn't a place where I wanted to be. My dislike came mainly from the fact that I could not accept that The Club had rules and that I needed to engage in activities with others. After dome time and through my own arrogance and finally acceptance/realization, I came to love the Teen Center and enjoyed being a part of something where other kids could just be themselves. I learned to like the fun and engaging activities and it also gave me somewhere to go after the long school day.
I have learned many good lifelong skills while attending The Teen Center, some of the more notable goals they have taught me are self-awareness and communication with people. These were my two biggest problems when entering not only The Teen Center but also into foster care. I slowly began to realize that I may not have had a choice with the past, but I now have the chance to make what I want in life come true because of The Teen Center and the supportive staff that is employed there. "
